Why the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS® is better ?
The basic system of Keyless entry, Factory Alarm Activation and Sound Confirmation chirps is simple to install. There's just one round electrical connector to plug into the trunk actuator and a paddle connector to plug into the trunk light for power. It takes about 15 minutes to install in a sedan. Once the keyless control box is plugged in, the basic system is powered, activated and ready to go.
You can close the trunk and drive away after that !
To put your car back to factory original, simply un-plug the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS control box, and plug the round connector back into the trunk actuator....... That's it !
To connect the lights for Parking Light confrimation, requires connecting ONE wire to the taillight plug in the trunk. This can either be soldered to the solder joint on the taillight plug, thus avoiding touching any of your cars original wiring harness, or you can use a wiretap at the taillight cable. (If you can't solder, just install the entire system yourself and drive to your local auto electrician and have them solder it). LIGHT INSTALL
Off the shelf units from Auto Stores, Alarm shops and on-line will not plug in, and you’ll need to cut the wiring harness in your car to pieces with these systems. But the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS Keyless upgrade just plugs-in, (except Parking Light Confirmation hook up).
Certain AUSSIE MAX-PLUS models also make Sound Chirp Confirmation on Lock and Un-Lock.
There is also a AUSSIE MAX-PLUS system made especially for TE/TD w124 station wagon models, which have a different type of factory alarm control to that found in sedans and 2 door models.
Furthermore, the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS does not need a 3.5 second open pulse to activate the central locking vacuum pump, but works on the standard default 0.5 second pulse. This means if you disconnect the car battery, or the key chain remote battery needs replacing, it will work immediately at the defaults without any programming. ... Just like it should!
Also, if your Mercedes Factory alarm is falsely triggering when you un-lock your car, there may be nothing wrong with the alarm module, and it may work fine simply by installing the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS keyless..
The original Mercedes factory alarm is way better than most any after market system available, as it has sensors all over the car, and will shut the engine down if triggered. Read more infomation in the ALARM TEST section of this site.

There are similar systems for $60 - Why?
You get what you pay for, so you should ask the other vendors the following questions:-
- Will their keyless system simply Plug-In and start working immediately, just like you plug the coffee maker in the wall outlet ? .....(The Aussie will). ...... or will you need to splice or wiretap into your cars wiring harness, located behind the drivers side kick panel ?
- Will their system need an external relay to flash the parking lights? (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to get the wiring diagrams for your car. (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to include two extra external relays to control the central locking vacuum pump, in additon to the Keyless control box because it's a Mercedes and uses a single wire control line? (The Aussie doesn't).
- Will you need to include an additional two more external relays to contol the MB factory alarm module, because it's a Mercedes and uses a single wire control line? (That's up to 5 external relays needed for kick panel installation) (The Aussie doesn't)
- Will you need to drill holes to mount a lock motor (electro-magnetic door actuator) in the door, because you have a vacuum locking system as found in all Mercedes? (This is the other alternative method employed by some makers). (The Aussie doesn't)
- Do they suggest it's best a professional install their keyless system? (Aussie doesn't)
- Do they provide on-line, comprehensive install instructions with pictures for your exact model of Mercedes before you purchase?. There's a reason they don't, as installing their systems generally isn't simple. These other systems are generally not modified and designed specifically for your older model Mercedes, like the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS keyless system.
(Click on the install instructions for your Mercedes at the top of this page)
The reason the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS cost a little more is I take one of these standard systems you can buy at your local auto store, or on-line and I modify the mother board and internal electronics converting it to Plug-and-Play for compatible Mercedes models. Addtionally, I install Sound Chirps to confirm the Lock and Un-lock functions (on some models).
This way with the Plug-and-Play modifications, you can simply open the trunk of your car, un-plug the lock actuator and re-plug it into the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS control box, and drive away.
I suggest you don't get a professional installer, as there is simply no need to waste your money !
The AUSSIE MAX-PLUS keyless is like plugging the coffee maker in the the wall outlet ... literally! ....Well it's a little harder than that, as you will get your hands dirty, but that's about it.
To restore your car back to factory original, just un-plug the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS, and re-plug the control cable back into the lock actuator. This way you can always take the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS with you to your next compatible Mercedes..
If you find a keyless system for $60 that simply Plugs-In like the AUSSIE MAX-PLUS and does not require you do any of the above listed items to install ....... Buy it!
You should also post the information on the Mercedes club forums for everyone to see !
